The Taunton Tinsel Trot once again brought festive cheer to the heart of the town, despite the persistent rain that fell throughout the morning. Starting from Castle Green, the event attracted a fantastic turnout of runners, most dressed in classic Santa outfits or sporting cheerful Santa hats. A few participants even arrived as Smurfs, adding an extra splash of colour and humour to the occasion.
Organised by the Taunton Carnival Committee, the Tinsel Trot continues to support a meaningful cause, raising funds for St Margaret’s Hospice. The atmosphere was warm and community-spirited, further boosted by Apple FM, who provided lively entertainment and led an energetic warm-up to get everyone ready to go.
The day began with a Mini Trot for children, giving younger participants the chance to get involved before the main race kicked off promptly at 10 am. The route, a 1K loop through Taunton town centre, was short, fun, and full of festive energy—perfect for families, casual runners, and anyone looking to enjoy a bit of Christmas-themed exercise.
Despite the mild but very rainy weather, spirits stayed high, and the mixture of costumes, music, and charitable purpose made the event feel special.
