Apple FM are delighted to be supporting St Giles Animal Welfare fortnightly by posting a photo and information about a dog and cat in their care waiting for the right human to come along and adopt them.
St Giles are based at Wrantage and work tirelessly to rescue abused, abandoned and stray cats and dogs. The centre depends on its dedicated staff, volunteers, sponsors and donators without whom the centre could not function.
In 2025 they re-homed 253 dogs and 151 cats. The centre is always a hive of activity and we will  up- date you about the  goings on at the centre fortnightly. If these cuties have been lucky enough to find their forever homes by the time you read this there are many more adorable animals on the website

From Jacqui's Corner...

Apple FM Volunteer Presenter & St Giles Charity Patron, Jacqui Budd, brings us up to date with what happens at St Giles every fortnight or so..

Monday 17th August 2026:

St Giles are in need of more foster carers . Foster carers are integral to the running of the centre. Do you have the space in your home to provide temporary accommodation and care for a dog or cat, whether it be on a short term basis or long term?

Quite often animals arriving in rescue centres are stressed; many traumatised and frightened finding the busy, often noisy environment difficult to cope with. A foster home offers a calm environment where these anxious animals can decompress.

Numerous animals are taken into centres with physical problems , injuries, wounds or skin conditions that need veterinary attention . A foster homeoffers a quiet space for them to recuperate following treatment.

Often the animals have never been socialised; living with a caring human in a real home setting helps them learn the basics; like house manners, toilet training and how to trust humans.

An abundance of pregnant cats and dogs find themselves at St Giles. These mums-to-be are cared for in foster homes where they can be closely observed and allowed to produce their offspring in a tranquil setting .

If you love animals are patient, compassionate, have a quiet stable home and live within 30 miles of the centre, could you become a foster carer? You will get support from the team at St Giles and everything you require will be supplied in order to carry out this vital role.

If this is something you would like to know more about please look at the https://stgilesanimalwelfare.co.uk/fostering page where you will find more information about this invaluable role, along with an application form.
