Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback received for our inaugural ‘Electric Summer’ festival in August 2026, Souvenir Events today unveils the full line-up for next year’s edition to be held in Taunton’s Vivary Park on Sunday 29 August.

Chosen as their headliner is arguably one of the most recognisable names in music – Gary Numan

Breaking through in 1979 with his band Tubeway Army, Numan scored a massive chart topping hit with ‘Are Friends Electric?’ and was quickly followed-up with ‘Cars’, a genre-defining single that marked the beginning of a solo career which has so far spanned a staggering six decades. He is an acknowledged innovator in the genres of synthpop and electronic rock, and is consistently lauded for his powerful, spectacular live shows. Electric Summer are truly honoured that he has agreed to perform at Electric Summer!

Joining Gary on the Vivary Park stage next summer will be xPROPAGANDA, the synthpop band featuring the original vocalists from influential German 80s group Propaganda, whose 1985 debut album ‘A Secret Wish’ gave us genre classics ‘Dr Mabuse’, ‘Duel’ and ‘P:Machinery’. You can expect to hear these tracks alongside selections from their own 2022 release ‘The Heart Is Strange’.

Grammy and BRIT nominated artist LITTLE BOOTS (aka Victoria Hesketh) returns to live performance at Electric Summer with a new one hour, one woman set which sees her rebuild her electro-pop anthems in real time with a table of synths, loops and vocals. Breaking through in 2009 courtesy of winning the prestigious BBC Sound of 2009 poll, and subsequent earworm singles ‘Remedy’ and ‘Stuck On Repeat’ from debut album ‘Hands’, her work blends 80s-inspired synthpop, disco and house music with more than a passing nod to ABBA, all of which made her the perfect addition to the live backing band for the ABBA Voyage concert residency in 2022!

‘Electric Summer’ isn’t your standard retro music festival. Our focus is firmly on electronic music, blending familiar names with contemporary artists who are likely to leave Taunton with many more fans than they arrived with. Also appearing will be:

TINY MAGNETIC PETS – the Irish dark synth-wave and electro-pop trio who have been lauded by synthpop royalty including Rusty Egan (Visage) and Wolfgang Flur (ex-Kraftwerk), and opened as support on headline tours by Midge Ure and OMD. Their latest release is the ‘Astralux’ EP, featuring remixes by Electric Summer DJ Paul Dakeyne.

THE MODERN – leading the mid-2000s New Romantic revival, The Modern offered a stylish sanctuary for misfits, capturing the UK charts with top 40 hits like ‘Jane Falls Down’, ‘Industry’ and ‘Discotheque Francais’. The synthpop trailblazers have officially reformed to make highly anticipated return to the stage at Electric Summer.

TIN GUN – starting as a pandemic-era Dropbox project swapping files and ideas over the ether, this quartet take their inspiration from all things synth- and guitar-based through the years, adding contemporary production values. Having gigged regularly over the years, their debut album is now ready and set for release in early 2027.

Netherlands-based BIRMINGHAM ELECTRIC is a band with serious credentials, having been produced by OMD’s Malcolm Holmes and Mark Reeder, with guests Peter Hook (New Order / Joy Division) and Marco Pirroni (Adam & The Ants). The band has won praise from Blitzed and Electronic Sound magazines which called its nostalgia “an ever-present yet strangely contemporary force.”
We’re also pleased to confirm the continuation of our relationship with Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with more than 60 years’ experience using music to support people affected by illness, disability, trauma, isolation, social exclusion and mental health challenges. Much loved by the music industry itself, Nordoff and Robbins has long recognised the power of music to help people communicate and be more expressive, build confidence, connect with others and improve health and wellbeing. They will receive a donation from every ticket and each festival T-shirt sold.

Jez Damsell, director of Souvenir Events and curator of the festival, says: “We were totally bowled over by the universally positive feedback we received from our inaugural event this summer, so we decided we had to raise the bar even further for 2027. Confirming Gary Numan as headliner is very much a statement of intent on our part. That we’ve put together such a high quality, full-day line up demonstrates our commitment to showcasing electronic rock & pop and to further establish this event on the major live music calendar for Taunton. We can’t wait for next year!”.

Sandy Trappitt, Director of Fundraising at Nordoff and Robbins, says: “We’re delighted to be part of Electric Summer again and grateful to Jez and the Souvenir Events team for their continued support. Music brings people together, and through music therapy we help vulnerable people unlock their own creativity and experience moments of joy through music. With a donation from every ticket and festival T-shirt sold, fans will be supporting this work while enjoying a fantastic day of live music.
