On Saturday 13th June, Taunton Rugby Club played host to a fantastic day of celebration, community spirit and awareness as Arc marked 50 years of supporting homeless people across Taunton and the surrounding area.
The Arc Fun Day brought together local residents, supporters, businesses and volunteers for a memorable event that showcased the incredible work Arc has carried out over the past five decades, helping those experiencing homelessness to find a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
Blessed with warm sunshine throughout the day, visitors enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere filled with entertainment, activities and opportunities to support a worthy cause. A wide variety of stalls lined the venue, offering everything from delicious food and refreshments to products from local traders and community organisations. There was truly something for everyone, with plenty of family-friendly activities keeping children and adults entertained throughout the day.
A particular highlight was the live entertainment stage, hosted by Apple FM, which featured an impressive lineup of talented musicians performing throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The music created a lively backdrop to the event, bringing people together and adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
As the day drew to a close, the focus shifted to the Big Sleep Out. Participants chose to spend the night outdoors, helping to raise awareness of the challenges faced every day by people experiencing homelessness. While the weather remained kind, the event provided an important reminder of the reality that many individuals have no choice but to sleep outside, often in far less favourable conditions.
The event was a wonderful success, not only celebrating Arc’s remarkable 50-year legacy but also strengthening community understanding and support for those affected by homelessness. Thanks to the generosity, enthusiasm and commitment of everyone involved, the day highlighted the compassion that exists within the Taunton community and reinforced the importance of continuing Arc’s vital work for many years to come.
