The Notley Arms holds a special place in my heart; many moons ago when I was a student nurse a group of us used to visit this delightful pub when we got paid. We would have a lovely walk on Exmoor and then proceed to the pub for the remainder of the day enjoying the lovely garden if it was a fine day or the open fire if it was inclement.

Caroline and Simon Murphy have run this gem, rebuilt in around 1870 and   situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park for the past thirteen years and they are now ready to retire. They are handing the reigns over to Barry and Emma who will become the new landlord and landlady from 1st April; along with Faye who will be their manager.

I interviewed the three of them recently, they are all very well acquainted with the pub and thank Caroline and Simon for allowing them the honour of taking the reins. All three are so enthusiastic, brimming with ideas and can’t wait to start the next chapter in their lives; there journey will begin on 1st April. If you are in the area pop in and say hello they will welcome you with open arms. Dogs are very welcome too.

The Notley Arms is a charming rustic pub, with a delightful garden, open fires, accommodation, serving local ales, ciders and regional products.
