Jacqui Budd – I was a delight to be invited to Aspen Court Nursing Home recently along with my microphone to chat to the staff and residents whilst they were being visited by three ex-racing greyhounds who are now ready for the next chapter in their lives, in which they hope to find their forever homes.

Prancer, who has been at St Giles since December,  is currently in foster care, while Lucky and Duke  are recent arrivals at the centre. Both residents and staff were delighted to see the three elegant dogs: whose presence encouraged conversation,  with much reminiscing and fond memories of pets, and most importantly made everyone happy.

The three canine visitors thoroughly enjoyed the attention, as much as the residents enjoyed giving it. All three dogs were impeccably behaved and scored ten out of ten for charisma. Prancer was so chilled, he lay down during his visit to have a snooze, allowing Lucky and Duke to take centre stage.

Richard Dempslake, the home’s activity co-ordinator liaised with St Giles to organise the event and was delighted with it, saying “you could not have asked for better dog behaviour or a better visit”.
