RUMWELL Farm Shop is hosting an awareness and fundraising event for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance this Thursday April 17 including team members making a donation to wear yellow clothing
Representatives from the award-winning Farm Shop’s Charity of the Year will be onsite from 10am-4pm to chat to customers, do CPR demonstrations and offer children the chance to dress-up as crew.
Sophie Mitchell, Partner at Rumwell Farm Shop on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, explains: “The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance team will be here with various items, such as flight kit, for children to try on, as well as selling fundraising merchandise like water bottles.
“It’s in the Easter school holidays, so we’re hoping there will be lots of families with children around who can get involved with the dressing up and watch the CPR demonstrations as well.
“The team from the charity will be handing out information about all they do too and we will have collection tins onsite, so people can donate any loose change they have.
“They will also be selling raffle tickets to win one of our wonderful Rumwell hampers featuring some of our famous Made at Rumwell products and there will be a lucky dip for children, so we will have plenty to entertain and inform all ages.
“Participating staff will be ‘wearing yellow’ on the day. Each member involved will be asked to donate £2 for their yellow non-uniform items, which could be trousers, a T-shirt, jumper or hat. We’re hoping for some bright and creative ideas to add to the fun of the day!”
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance provides lifesaving, pre-hospital critical care, to patients in need.
Its team of highly skilled pilots, critical care practitioners, nurses, and doctors are operational for 19 hours a day, 365 days a year; together they work tirelessly to save lives in our area.
The service is 95% funded by charitable giving, including events like our quizzes. Last year, it was tasked to 2,909 incidents: with each mission costing approximately £3,500.
Charlotte Humber, Supporter Engagement Officer for Somerset from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, says: “It’s wonderful to have been selected by Rumwell Farm Shop as their Charity of the Year. 2025 is a very special year for us, as we’re also celebrating our 25th anniversary. Our service came online at 8am on March 21, 2000; 52 minutes later we were tasked to our first mission.
“The partnership with Rumwell Farm Shop represents a great opportunity for us to raise invaluable funds while also generating awareness of the lifesaving work that we do.”
The Charity Day in aid of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance takes place at Rumwell Farm Shop from 10am-4pm this Thursday, April 17.
