A SOMERSET charity has this month received a £4,550 donation from an award-winning family-run farm shop in the county (February 2025).

Mind in Somerset was recently presented with the money that was raised by staff and customers at Rumwell Farm Shop & Café throughout 2024.

Anne Mitchell, Partner at the Farm Shop, located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, explains: “We’re thrilled to have donated £4,550 to Mind in Somerset, which was our chosen Charity of The Year for 2024. It does wonderful work helping to deliver services to people throughout Somerset.

“With mental health a key issue impacting on our farming community; it was a very relatable charity for us to support. We were so please to have also helped raise awareness of the work it does too.”

Mind in Somerset works across the county to provide support and resources for people experiencing mental health challenges. It offers a range of services, including emotional support, counselling and community outreach.

Rumwell Farm Shop & Café Partner, Sophie Mitchell adds: “We had hoped to raise £3,000 for the charity, so are delighted to have hit our target and gone beyond it. We raised the money from proceeds from our quiz nights throughout the year and hosted a special awareness and fundraising Charity Day in the summer. Team members also donated £2 each to wear festive jumpers on a day in the run up to Christmas.

“We donated 10p from the sale during 2024 of every box of our large eggs to the charity and proceeds from the sale of carrier bags too. We’d like to thank all our customers and our team for getting behind this wonderful charity. We couldn’t have done it without you!”

Mind in Somerset’s goal is to promote mental well-being, raise awareness, and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. It also engages in various community initiatives and events to foster a supportive environment.

Alison Baker, Corporate Partnerships Co-ordinator with Mind in Somerset says: “We were delighted when we were selected to work in partnership with Rumwell Farm Shop as their 2024 Charity of the Year. It was such a tremendous opportunity for us, not only to raise funds for our charity, but also to raise awareness of the work that we do to support those experiencing mental health challenges across the county.

“I’d like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to all the staff and customers who have helped collect such a wonderful amount of money for us. It will make a real difference to the work we do.”
