Review: Whale of a time to be had as Pinocchio comes to town

We arrived at Taunton Brewhouse on a wet and windy evening and headed to the auditorium where we were greeted by Mandy who helped us to our seats.

Seated not far from us were Taunton MP Gideon Amos and the Taunton mayor, Vanessa Garside.

It wasn’t long after that the bar bell rang and the show began.

The stage was shimmering with silver metallic curtains and hues of pink and purple shining onto the stage.

The audience were having a whale of a time clapping and waving along to the upbeat Puppets with Soul, booing at the villainous Foxy and Moggy and chuckling at ventriloquist Elvis and dummy, his mother Betty Lou.

The show went out with a bang with a drumming gorilla, Miss Funball bringing the fun, the Candy Floss Queens spinning into action, the Blue Fairy dazzling and a mooing Pinocchio getting his wish of becoming a real boy.

We did like being beside the seaside where the story of Pinocchio was brought to life with a talented cast of professional actors and a local 16-strong youth ensemble.

We’d have noses as long as Pinocchio’s if we said we didn’t have ‘fun fun fun’.
